sterlo liberation

december 28th, 2005 - holy shit. that's all we can keep saying. we have some new members jammin' with the orhcestra now. they are maren (banjo, vocals, 1-2-3-4), gwen (cello, sweater vests, vermont), and back on the jimba (sp?) is danny poo from the body electric! we took our pretty bottoms into rob mcG's recently and recorded some songs. they sound so freakin' awesome. as soon as they are done and we figure out how to switch our myspace page to a music page, we will let you hear them. i'm thinkin' this year will be pretty amazing. we can't wait to see you all soon. what's that? you haven't seen i heart huckabee's yet? then go steal a copy of it!

take care,
sterlo liberation

july 2nd, 2005 - we're leaving for tour, like right now. we went to the plan-it-x fest show last night and it was sooo good, so relevant, so inspiring. i picked up the los gatos negros CD. we're ready for the revolution. i mean, as ready as you can be for major change. it's happening every day. we're changing more every day. moving towards self-sufficience. it's amazing to realize how many people there are out there who share the same ideas and dreams for a better world. and when it comes down to it, what human wouldn't want to be free from this slave culture? they want us to be scared of each other, scared of ourselves. but we keep talking to each other, singing to each other, meeting each other across state lines and fiber optic wires. i'm so happy to be hitting the road again. come out and talk to us, dance with us, sing with us. let's remind ourselves that we are not alone.

love jen

june 4th, 2005 - we're going on tour with o' haste annihilation in july! check out our shows page for some dates. we're freakin' busy in july. mmm. if you can help in any way, shape, or form, we would repay you with... something cool... like food.... or jen's soul... maybe jon's firstborn... jen says if you're going to be sitting around watchin media, check out the weather underground and what the bleep do we know?

we put up some new stuff in the community section. check it out here.

sterlo & jen liberation

april 27, 2005 - hey, it's me, jen and jon in the truck! we just got back from our mini-tour with the body electric. it was so much freakin' fun. we made so many new friends and had lots of good times playing wiffle ball, eating free awesome burritos & vegan food, putting a sign on TBE's van that said "wieners on board" and them not noticing it until 4 hours later at a gas station, drinking at train yards, playing a basement & community space & art house & warehouse, raw deal, sitting in a circle on the floor passing/drinking whiskey aka "meeting with the manager", swimming/rinsing off in freezing cold rivers, mountains, mountains, mountains, drinking too much coffee coffee coffee, dan-isms ("everything i do is awesome," "you don't make the sun shine," "i shouldn't be talking," "let's watch lost boys not jonny darko," etc.) petting doggies, watching buildings and marinas burn down, and so much that i can't possibly fucking write it all. but i promise myself and everyone else that i will soon post pictures. we took a bunch and got some good ones. if i could thank everyone that helped enough, then life would be too easy. easily one of the top five best times of my life. easily. warm, heartfelt thanks to everyone. please visit us.

love,
sterlo liberation

april 13, 2005 - i spoke too soon. i've been lazy about the site again.

we're going on tour real soon. here are the dates. we're going out for most of the shows with our buddies in the body electric. we will be stealing all of their beer every single chance we get. dan from the body electric will be playing drums with us on this tour. it sounds sooooooooo good. we like danny poo. well, not his poo. nevermind.

so we also put up the lyrics to some new songs. you can check 'em out here. thanks to everyone who is helping out with the little tour.

watch the corporation as soon as you can.

march 20th, 2005 - top of the evenin' to ya. i want to pat myself on the back real quick. i've managed to update the website once a week for three weeks. thanks, me. you're welcome, dude.

we had a fucking great time down in st. pete this weekend. we met some great people from st. pete for peace and st. pete food not bombs. we heard some great music. we talked to some amazing, strong, and dedicated people and ate some amazing vegetarian/vegan cuisine. we can't thank everyone involved in the event enough for their hard work. to say it was inspirational is an understatement.

have you heard from jon? he's gonna be back soon. three, maybe four days. if you are in gainesville and want to see him when he gets back, come out to the shamrock thursday night and watch our buds the monistats and the body electric play. me, jon, and jen will be there hanging out and getting jon back into the drunken groove that he never really got out of but sometimes we just need an excuse or something but we shouldn't drink so much and maybe we'll get that figured out soon run on sentence. okay.

so many good things going on, so much to talk about...

-sterlo liberation

march 15th, 2005 - we're playing this friday at the shamrock. it's a benefit show for the civic media center. we're playing with oriflamme and... someone else. we'll let you know soon. there's an all ages show at the cmc beforehand that everyone should go to as well.

if you didn't read about the anti-war march/gathering/show on march 19th in st. petersburg, you should!

check out the tour dates. if anybody can help us book dates, please let us know! we'll make you dinner!

-sterlo liberation

march 8th, 2005 - hey guys! sorry we slack on the website updates. i promise to make a better effort in the future. i'm gonna put it on our to-do list right now, actually. cool. done.

jon liberation is coming back in about two weeks. we're so excited. we will be writing a bunch of new stuff and hitting the road as hard as we possibly can. so much time, so little to do. strike that. reverse it. so check out our new shows and stuff.

read about the anti-war march/gathering/show on march 19th in st. petersburg.

january 16th, 2005 -

damn. it's been a while. how you guys doing? jen and i just went down to sarasota and played a show at the southgate community center with the tri-fives and the perks. billy from the tri-fives took us out to the bar, helped us with a place to stay and bought us some great pizza. big thanks to those guys and all the kids who clapped along with the acoustic punks. we'll be heading back there in two weeks with our homegirls in ramona quimby. this show will be hott.

but before we do that, we will be playing at the atlantic on sunday, january 23rd for the tsunami relief effort. there will be ELEVEN BANDS playing. it's a $5 donation at the door and even though a lot of money has been raised already for this cause, we can still do our part while enjoying some great music. here's the list, in no particular order:

escape grace
the beat buttons
no more
two finger suicide
j. page
the body electric
fates worse than death
scum of the earth
g.l.o.
mens shoes
liger

we are also working on our new record. it's gonna feature a lot of our friends rocking out with us and hopefully some more surprises... one of the tracks is also going to be on the v-fest comp that cindy from ramona quimby is putting together. if you don't know about the v-fest, here's a snippet:

"So, What is V-Fest...

Inspired by V-day (an anti-violence world-wide benefit based on “the vagina monologues” by eve ensler), V-Fest was conceived on November 15, 2003. Area bands featuring female musicians were asked to perform for charity, specifically benefiting Peaceful Paths abuse shelter. Venues, bands, and friends enthusiastically got involved, and in February of 2004, the first annual V-Fest was born.

This year, V-Fest will also host shows in Jacksonville, Orlando, and and Gainesville. V-Fest is also proud to present the 2005 V-Fest Compilation CD, featuring many of the artists involved in V-Fest 2005."

from what i've heard, this will be a ridiculously hot comp filled with some very talented ladies. i can't wait to a ) get ahold of it and b) play the shows attached to it's release. more info on that soon!

november 8th, 2004 -

i'm excited about the H.O.M.E. van benefit show on nov 16th. also, we have a new acoustic 4-song CD that we recorded ourselves. have one, they're free. in less than a month, we are going to visit jon liberation in colorado...gainesville liberation re-union! in suckier news, wal-mart wants to tear down the frisbee golf course on nw 34th street and build..well..another wal-mart. email any of the three city commissioners who support wal-mart's rapid growth - tony domenech, ed braddy, chuck chestnut. and say, "this blows. you blow. quit blowing." maybe they'll listen? get creative. let's have a contest.

i'm so tired from a great weekend at the fest. jen and i drank enough for jon and nick, they were probably telekinetically sloshed in colorado and arizona, respectively. we hope that was the case and that they were half as giddy as we were. such great people. such great times. such a great town.

if you're just peeking out from your bomb shelter or the rock you hide under, tomorrow is the big day. we find out what direction humanity is heading in and whether or not any choice we possibly can make will change things for the better in the long run. please call into work and vote if that's the only possible way for you to do it. just vote. this system is dumb and flawed, but we have to do what we can with the meager tools we've been tossed in hopes of one day being in a position to make bigger change. i'm probably preaching to the choir, and if that's the case, please don't be lazy. walk the walk, homies.

sterlo says: yo, we got some new shows. one's tomorrow at the cmc with o' haste annihlation, the body electric, and the argument (from NJ). check it out. it should be fun.

jen says: Last Saturday we played at a suprise birthday party for our friend Chesdin. We rocked a picnic table and then our friends got up and rocked the picnic table too. We even convinced some ex-members of today doesn't count to play a few songs. We all sang along and got crazy. I swear we thought we heard jon doesnt count singing along. Oh yeah, and the night before at The Waiting Room was awesome. I hear they will try to have DIY shows there a few times a month. I hope so because it is a great space. It had a Krieger's Warehouse vibe to it, don't you agree St. sterlo?

sterlo says: it was fun. jens a capitalizist.

jen says: yeah, sorry. I love gainesville and the people here.

collectively, the wacky kids say: later!
